Graduate School Project: Design and Documentation of Themed Environments
Project Description:
We created a new building to go with the existing set of historical buildings and park, as well as provided integrated theming to existing facilities to tie the site together. The new building will serve as a combination bookstore and cafe, and provide reading areas for both groups and individuals. The building will be themed around an invented story of a lightning strike to the building–used by the lighthouse keeper to store books she recorded–causing the stories to come to life and jump from the pages. Scenes and characters from regional literature sold at the building will be depicted by life-sized statue scenes and scenic decoration. The stories will spill out into the landscape and guide guests through the site’s attractions…
